Report 1st Project Conference

The first Project Conference of the MARQuIS project took place on 14 October 2005. The aim of this first conference was to discuss the progress of the project and its place in the broader context of quality improvement in Europe.

The day was divided into two parts. During the morning session the different work packages of the project presented their activities so far. For more information please click here. Preliminary results and the first official publication on Obtaining healthcare in another Member State were discussed. The morning session was closed with a discussion panel, where the audience could ask questions to the leaders of the different work packages.

During the afternoon session several related international activities were presented:
- Mr. McCarthy, European Commission DG Research, presented the 7th Framework Programme.
- Ms. Legido-Quigley, IESI Business School, presented the Europe for Patients project (E4P)
- Mr. Kelley, Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), presented the OECD Healthcare Quality Indicators Project.
- Ms. Garcia Barbero, World Health Organisation Europe, presented the WHO activities related to the MARQuIS project and a colleague of her, Mr. Groene, presented the PATH project, a tool to assess quality improvement in hospitals.
The afternoon session was closed with a panel discussion as well.
